What Is TouMyu?

official site

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT to be confused with the Touken Ranbu Stage Plays, another set of 2.5d Touken Ranbu productions but run by a different stage company with completely different actors, characters, and story lines.

TouMyu is short for "Musical Touken Ranbu"!

The Touken Ranbu Musicals are the live on-stage productions with story and singing based off of the original game Touken Ranbu. Since their first trial performance in late 2015 to their latest performance this year, the Musicals have grown in popularity in Japan and have been a massive success. They have not only performed around Japan, but have performed in China, India, and even all the way in France. Excluding the trial version, there are a total of 5 main musicals and 4 special live performances.

In addition to their many performances, the musicals collectively have produced over 60 CDs and 5 Music Videos.

Each main musical is split into 2 parts:

PART 1 - Main story

Part 1 consists of the main story which always involves a single team of six swords, one or more of their owners, and the history surrounding them. The touken danshi fight to preserve history, or try to mend altered history.

PART 2 - live

Part 2 is essentially a live concert from the swords to their saniwa audience. It is unrelated to events from the main story in part 1. This part features various unique idol outfits for each sword, and is one of the easiest ways to tell the Musical swords apart from the Stage Play swords. They always have three layers of this idol clothing and strip down as they sing more songs.
